Using a BONDING PRIMER is a necessity when painting cabinets BUT Wood cabinets have tannins that can leak through paint so you need a BONDING PRIMER WITH STAIN BLOCKER to prevent this from happening. ZINSSER BIN shellac based primer has never steered me wrong. One quick coat will do the trick then gently sand and wipe down before adding the top coat!
