Multifunctional Staircase
This new multifunctional staircase needed to work hard, providing access to a roof terrace, a dressing room, and a stylish storage solution. Treads and landing edges have a classical edge profile made from oak. An elliptical-section oak handrail sits on textured bronze uprights, terminating on an elegantly-designed bronze newel. The new cabinetry had a custom interior incorporating storage elements that supported our client’s lifestyle.

This modern cut-string staircase with elegant glass balustrade and oak treads features a unique hexagonal design - a first for Bisca. The staircase’s angular features needed to be combined with curves and softness to bring smooth transitions throughout the staircase as elegance and fluidity were key elements of the client’s design brief.

This contemporary design features grey oak treads with a large overhang for comfort, whilst retaining an open rise to create a modern and luxurious feel. Electroplated bronze spindles, fitted into the treads, are capped by oval profiled leather handrail that descends from the top of the staircase into a flowing curved feature newel.

Back to 2013 for this #throwbackthursday. Our brief was to incorporate curved lines into the design to give an organic feel that was in tune with the natural materials surrounding the staircase. The staircase used a palette oak, leather and forged #stainlesssteel. The staircase rises helically to a landing where it then splits to give access to different levels in the home
