A last-minute decision by my client led me to restore this piece along with the rest of the furniture they delivered. I’m so glad they made that choice! The skirting around the top had tacks all the way around, where I suspect a curtain used to hang! 🥰

It came with its challenges- why is it always the ‘small-quick’ ones that do? From the layers of lead paint safely stripped away, then numerous stains that were minimised using oxalic acid treatments (✨comment ‘TREATMENT’ for links) and a lot of sanding. Splits in the wood and the tightest grain you’d ever see which is typical from antique pine!
