5.7K views · 223 reactions | Excuse my drooling, I am just simply obsessed with this @potterybarn inspired desk dupe 🪵 I battled ice, wind, and snow to pick this desk up off of... | By Flip Hut | Pottery Barn but what I don't like is these insane prices. So come with me to turn this desk into a pottery barn dupe. I paid twenty big ones for this desk. It had some water damage and that ugly, ugly, ugly orange stain that I always hate. I just started out by removing the drawers and then I went in with my vacuum just to get all that dust and **** out of the inside. I gave everything a good scuff sand and then just went in with my degreaser to make sure everything was clean and prepped. I filled in these old drawer holes with some wood that I cut out and then just covered it over with some bondo I did this just to have a flat clean surface to work with and just modernizes the piece a little bit as well. After I got everything sanded down smooth, I went right in with my stain blocking primer on both the body and the drawers. It's freezing in New Jersey right now and that means paint takes forever to dry so I just stuck with spray paint this time. Makes it easy, thinner coats, faster dry times. Nothing wrong with good spray paint. There was this like weird outlet hole cut out in the back that I wanted to cover up so I just used some adhesive spray and a nail gun to attach some pole wrap to that back. Now this is the secret to get that Pottery Barn brushed wood effect. So what I do is just use this wood glaze. I'll paint it on and then use an actual old broom head and a deck mop to get that brushed look. You do not have to be perfect with this because wood grain just naturally isn't perfect in general. So it's a super easy process to get a really high end finish on your pieces. To finish things up I just threw on some new hardware that I grabbed on Amazon. And I also put in some drawer liners just to cover up any of that marker that was left in the drawers beforehand. Here is a quick reminder of what the before looked like. And here is the final outcome of my Pottery Barn inspired dupe. I'm so happy with how that textured glaze came out. And I think that modern new hardware from Amazon really ties the whole piece together. Let me know if you guys think this can pass as Pottery Barn and I will see you guys in the next one.

15K views · 738 reactions | free curbside furniture is my drug of choice, it just gets me GOING 🤪 i probably looked insane loading this into my car at the crack of dawn on my way to... | By Flip Hut | Free furniture is my favorite and that's exactly what this curbside dresser was. It looks like it got run over by like an eighteen wheeler but I knew it had potential. I removed the drawers and then decided to get started on the top. This corner was in the worst shape so I just used bondo for some heavy duty repairs. And then I just covered the rest in a really fine layer of plaster just to make sure everything was really smooth and even for when it came to painting. This accent piece was kind of dated so I just used a hammer and my chisel to remove it. I also didn't like this old hardware so I just removed that from a the drawers also. I let the plaster dry overnight. Then I just went in with the sander to get everything smooth. I used the same sander to shape out the area with the bondo on it also. Since the prep work took a lot of different products, I made sure to use two good coats of primer on the base and the drawers just to make sure everything was super smooth and solid when it came to painting. I got all my paint mixed up and unfortunately this project just seemed to be the 13th reason for my pink paint sprayer so she has broke and been replaced with this gorgeous new wagoner paint sprayer which has been working great. I gave everything two solid coats of tricorn black which is my favorite black from Sherwin Williams on both the body and the drawers and then I moved on to the detail pieces. Here I'm just measuring out the drawer size just to make sure my accent pieces match and then just using my miter saw to cut them to size. I like a little bit of a stain on any wood accents when I'm painting a piece black. So I just went in with I think it's called Early American by Minwax on these accent pieces and then just made sure I wiped them back immediately just so that they didn't get too dark. I also made sure to stain the new legs that I picked up as well. I used some heavy duty wood glue on the accent pieces and just made sure I lined them up absolutely perfectly on each of the drawers and then I went into exchanging the legs out. The hardware on my new legs are a little bit smaller so I had to attach these brackets just to make sure they fit perfectly. I wanted everything on this piece to be kind of it off. That's why I went with the rectangle legs and I also picked this squared off gold hardware as well. I finished everything off in a polyurethane and then just as a reminder, here is the before and here is the completely revamped after. To think that this piece was sitting in the pouring rain on the side of the curb just a few days ago and then turned into this is just awesome. I'll relist it for about three fifty, let me know what you guys think and I will see you in the next one.

13K views · 453 reactions | I think I have called a flip my favorite 10+ times already but yall I swear…THIS IS MY FAVORITE 😫😍 A FREE curbside dresser who just needed some lovin’... | By Flip Hut | If you want to know my favorite thing on planet Earth, here it is. Free curbside furniture. I threw this thing in my trunk as fast as I could and booked it home. This dresser was like soaked from the rain and also came with a free Dunkin' Donut sticker on the front drawer. I would say she's a little rough around the edges but nothing I can't fix up. I took all the drawers out and then I needed to get rid of that orange stain because you guys know how much I hate orange stain. So I used my carbide scraper and then I started sweating my **** off so it was time to really get down to business. Let me tell you this is a workout. Don't ask any questions about this clip. I won't be explaining. Moving on, I finished carbide scraping these sides and then went right into removing the old hardware on those top drawer fronts to get that all sanded down too. I was literally exhausted from scraping so I just used stripper instead for the drawers just because it was easier. Also, it's kind of satisfying to use stripper because it just comes off in like little clumps. This seems like 5 seconds for you guys but I was standing here for like two hours just in my thought sanding but I had to get it perfect it was all worth it. I sanded the drawers down and then I went in with this stain that I absolutely loved. But then like five seconds later once I actually finished staining everything I realized I hated it. So totally loved that. Amazing. But to fix it I just mixed up like a white wash with white paint and water and then it got me to like the perfect color that I wanted. So problem inverted. No need to panic. Then it was time to actually sit down and like put in that work. I sat here and hand glued these little spheres. One by I won. Did I have fun? No. But was it worth it in the end? Absolutely. After finishing that agonizing task, I finally went in, taped everything off and then got started with my primer and my paint. I did make sure to scuff sand the body. It just makes the primer and the paint stick so much better and also gives me such a smooth finish when I actually go in with the paint. At this point, Sherwin Williams owes me a fact check for using tricoin black on every single piece but it's the best black so I don't know what to say. Well, I actually do not and it's run me my money but anyways, I had to make sure I hit all the angles on these drawers because those little spheres don't get fully covered unless you spray them, right? While waiting for the paint to dry, I decided to drill the new hardware holes on my top drawers or at least I thought because the universe had another plan and my drill bit, got caught in the drawer. So then, I got to play the fun game of sword in the stone and yank it out and realized I need to charge my drill because it was not charged. To end on a window, I did remove a tape to get that satisfying reveal. I then woke up to it being absolutely frigid in New Jersey and snowing and I still had to work in the garage. So, I threw on my heavy coat and luckily, my drill finally worked. So, I was able to put all the new hardware on both those top drawers and then, when I went to drill the holes on the bottom drawers, what do you know? Look at that. My drill bit got stuck again but it's okay. I fixed it and we were able to get all the new hardware on those drawers as well. The last step was just to apply this finishing wax and I needed the exposed wood. Here's a quick flashback of the before and then, I mean come on. It looks so good. Like I said putting all those little dots on one by one. So worth it. I also am digging the black hardware because honestly I'm kind of getting sick of gold hardware. It's going to be hard for me to even sell this one because I love it so much but let me know what you guys think and I'll see you in the next one.
