A Month of Wearing White in August
I haven't had a fun clothing challenge in a long while, so for the month of August, I challenged myself to wearing 12 white items from my existing wardrobe. Layered outfits were created using at least 2 items each day. Adding a few accessories and various footwear options allowed me to create original looks as the days turned into weeks. As of this writing, I’m on day 15, and so far I have had some favorites and some not-so-sure's, but I am continuing to enjoy the challenge.
I was surprised to find out that my favorite pieces included the Tulle Overskirt, the Bardot Shorts, and the Corset Cover. My favorite accessories at this point in the challenge are my wide leather belt and neutral ballet flats.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed this "Wearing White Challenge". I got my fill of wearing white and I will be happy to store most of the items after Labor Day until next Spring.
To note: I used the Athena Bra under most tops as a comfortable alternative undergarment. I don't think I needed both the Dana Cami and the Rib Knit Tank top. I could have only chose one of them, but it was nice to have 2 similar options, as I feel those tops were comfortable and versatile. I thought about having another skirt option, but the Cotton Dress and Tulle Overskirt worked out just fine. If I needed to, I could have added a bulkier white sweater, or cropped white denim jacket to the mix, but the weather in Sacramento, did not warrant it in August.
The main reason I presented this challenge is to show how versatile simple wardrobe items can be assembled to give many different but cohesive looks. It was a good way to judge a travel wardrobe, or even a year round wardrobe. Switching out some of the pieces with other colors, prints, and a variety of textures, would open up lots of other possibilities. What I found is that 11-12 pieces can get you through a month worth of outfits.....All of the fabrics were lightweight and made with natural fibers (excluding the tulle skirt which was made out of a very soft and lightweight nylon netting fabric).
I would love to know your thoughts about this, and if this is a challenge you would take. Please send me an email with your comments to brigittehartdresses@gmail.com
