PMAC responded to the Competition Bureau’s consultation on the new Competition Act greenwashing provisions. While we support the policy objectives of the new provisions, we are concerned that they may have unintended consequences in the investment industry, including limiting the quality of ESG disclosures from public companies, and not being aligned with current Canadian and International requirements and standards. PMAC responded to the Department of Finance’s consultation about proposed amendments to Canada’s Income Tax Act. We welcomed the clarity provided in the proposed amendments but are asking the Department for further changes to address issues affecting portfolio management firms.
