Les seues obres principals presenten una caracterització viva i brillant, i existeix un gran nombre de còpies de taller de qualitat inferior de les seues peces més populars, com ara el bust de Charles James Fox o el de [[William Pitt "El Jove"]]. Va realitzar també estàtues en un estil antic lleugerament eròtic i tenia molta experiència com a escultor de tombes. De la mateixa manera, en aquest camp va lloar verbalment l'estil antic, tot i que evità l'actitud dedicatòria dels escultors autènticament [[neoclàssic]]s.
