The immune response of vaccinated birds was estimated by microagglutination test for Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) and Salmonella Typhimurium (ST) antibodies that revealed a detectable increase in antibody titers in vaccinated birds in comparison with the unvaccinated ones. The protection rate of vaccinated quails post challenge with locally isolated Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) and Salmonella Typhimurium (ST) strains were 83.3% and 90% respectively. Salmonella was recovered from vaccinated challenged quails at ratio ranged from 23.3%-33.3% for SE and 20%-30% for ST from the heart blood, liver, spleen and caecal junction post challenge. The results of challenge test showed that vaccinated quails were effectively protected against virulent strains of Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) and Salmonella Typhimurium (ST).

Coccidiosis is known to have a negative impact on the economy. Coccidiosis is controlled using anticoccidial drugs, antibiotics, and vaccines. Various coccidial vaccines differ in application technique, attenuation method, and the species used. Coccidial vaccines can be spray or gel-based (Form). This study aimed to compare the effect of application and approaches between spray and gel vaccines for coccidiosis. Materials and Methods: Specific pathogen-free chicks were vaccinated with different vaccines. Fecal samples were taken on 21 days post-vaccination for vaccine take, and then a challenge test was done on day 21. Results: Post-vaccination oocyst counts in gel vaccinated groups were more than the spray vaccinated ones as it recorded (1400 and 2200) oocyst/g, but the gel vaccines resulted in lower post vaccinal titer which was (10000 and 12500) oocyst/g. Results of quantitative real-t...

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are group of enzymes expressed in the airways with their inhibitor (tissue inhibitor of MMPs (TIMP) and they are the key responsible for extra cellular matrix (ECM) degradation. Objective: To clarify the role of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 in asthma exacerbation and airway remodeling. Subjects and methods: The study included 3 groups, group ''A'' included 22 patients with stable asthma group ''B'' included 18 patients during asthma exacerbation and group ''C'' of 18 healthy volunteer served as control. All groups were matching age and sex. Levels of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 were measured in the induced sputum of the 3 groups. Serum IgE skin prick test and PEFR were assessed. Results: MMP-9, TIMP-1 and MMP-9/TIMP-1 ratio increased in both A and B groups in comparison to control (P < 0.001). During exacerbation MMP-9 and MMP-9/TIMP-1 ratio showed significant increase for both but TIMP-1 did not show significant change when compared to stable asthmatics. There was significant negative correlation between PEFR and MMP-9, TIMP-1 and MMP-9/TIMP-1 ratio. Conclusion: MMP-9 and TIMP-1 play an important role in pathophysiology of asthma exacerbation and airway remodeling. Clearly, a greater understanding of the pathogenesis of asthma is critical to the development of better therapeutic modalities.

Recognition of diabetic individuals at greatest risk of developing coronary artery disease (CAD) would have important public health importance by allowing the distribution of limited resources to be directed on those who would most benefit from aggressive management. Several functional differences between haptoglobin (Hp) phenotypes have been demonstrated that appear to have important biological and clinical consequences in the development of CAD in patients with type 2 DM. The present study was conducted to demonstrate the relationship between

The techniques employed were TG/DTG, XRD, nitrogen adsorption at −196˚C and the catalytic decomposition of H 2 O 2 at 25-40˚C. Material and Methods Aluminum hydroxide sample was prepared by precipitating Al(NO 3) 3 •9H 2 O (1M) solution using 0.2M ammonia solution at 70˚C

Samples of sizes 10(10)60 are chosen and censored at a specified percentage. Cramer von Mises and Anderson Darling test statistics are used with a nonparametric density estimator in place of the empirical distribution function. Tables of critical values for the two tests are generated. The power of the tests for nine alternative distributions is shown. Results show high power of discriminating the alternatives.

It focuses on the dynamics by which emotions are dialogically experienced in the everyday lives of individuals as a manifestation of the intersection between self and culture. It is argued that culture is distributed and inherently heterogeneous yet preserves a surface homogeneity that binds and facilitates communication between people of a cultural group. The underlying heterogeneity is explained both as a result of personality factors (and related idiosyncratic internalizations of prevailing cultural and value systems in a given society), as well as contextual factors. Both end up forming varying configurations of I-positions within the self that guide and shape emotional experiences and produce heterogeneity. It is argued that the dynamics of emotion judgements and the communication of those judgements is what reflects the underlying heterogeneity of culture and reproduces and reinforces the surface homogeneity.

The conflict in Sudan caused multiple ruptures to the refugees' previously established identities. In Egypt, they come into contact and conflict with the host community, organizations, and fellow Sudanese from different regions or ethnic backgrounds, which creates tensions in religious, tribal, or ethnic identities. Such identity issues were manifested in extreme form during the tragic 2005 Sudanese refugee sit-in. The conclusion sheds light on implications for conflict resolution.
