Pretty Houseplants for Your Sweetheart
Red or pink roses offer a beautiful but temporary anniversary, Valentine’s, or birthday sentiment. If your sweetheart enjoys plants, why not choose a botanical gift with more lasting enjoyment? Houseplants with heart-shaped leaves and brilliant pink and red foliage and/or flowers are offered by florists and will look lovely in a pretty pot throughout the year.
Getting Phalaenopsis and Oncidium to Rebloom
The two most commonly sold orchids are moth orchids (Phalaenopsis) and dancing lady orchids (Oncidium). Of the two, Phalaenopsis is the easiest to grow and rebloom. I recently talked with Nancy about her orchid success, and here are some of her tips for getting orchids to thrive and rebloom. She has had much better success with getting #Phaelenopsis to rebloom as compared to #Oncidium, but she still has some success with Oncidium. It can just take a little more work. #orchid #rebloom

Growing Fragrant Eucalyptus Indoors
Some indoor gardeners shorten the trip by growing eucalyptus trees at home in containers. Since the trees are normally fast growers, pruning is a must, but that just means more aromatic material with no need for a trip to the craft store. #eucalyptus #houseplant #houseplants #growing #indoors #howto #fragrant #crafting #wreath #making #DIY
Cool Succulent Hanging House Plants
Succulents lack the woes of average, needier hanging plants. They don’t need to be constantly watered and tended to due to higher exposure to the elements. Succulents are much slower to dry out and far more forgiving if the soil runs a little dry. #succulent @hangingplants #hanging #houseplant #houseplants #succulents #cool
How To Repot House Plants in Six Steps
Your once beautiful house plant has begun to look stressed. Maybe it’s lost some leaves, quit growing, needs more frequent watering, and has visible roots on the soil surface. Then you remember that it’s been three years since you repotted it…That means it’s time to upgrade its container home to improve better growth and overall appearance. #pot #repot #indoor #houseplant #houseplants #house #plants #transplant #howto #blackgoldsoil #jessiekeith
How to Water House Plants
Watering house plants…it sounds simple, doesn’t it? But, if it were simple, there would be fewer black thumbs out there. Proper watering is at the heart of good plant care, and if you don’t know how to water a plant, then its little green future may be in peril. It is surprisingly easy to drown a plant with aqueous attention. #houseplants #watering #howto #DIY #greenthumb #gardening

Managing the Worst House Plant Pests
When garden plants are outdoors, #pest populations are generally lower or more diffuse due to natural predators, harsher weather, and more host plants. But, once you bring plants indoors, all of that changes. Predators are gone, climate conditions are good, and the pests that enter your home have just a few plants to feed on. This means hungry pest populations will explode on your #house #plants, causing damage and wreckage along the way. #Houseplants
