@drheatherfinley posted to Instagram: Do you have any Thanksgiving travel plans? Comment below! 🙌⁣⁣⁣ You're busy enough as is, and don't need to deal with constipation on top of that. Especially when you're finally trying to enjoy the holiday break from your work week…you don’t want to be thinking about where the bathroom is or paranoid about the food at your family's house. ⁣ Constipation relief is about consistency, and this includes when you're traveling or out of our normal ro
@drheatherfinley posted to Instagram: Imagine life without having to take Miralax everyday for constipation... 💩 Because its totally possible!⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ We are told "just take miralax" all too often, and shoved out the doctor's door with little to no guidance besides that... What you REALLY need is clarity on what's actually causing your constipation - not a bandaid fix that will leave you nervous to leave your house. When you know the underlying issue(s) contributing to your constipation
@drheatherfinley posted to Instagram: 📝 Comment below which item you'll add to your pantry! Constipation relief is all about consistency with the small daily things. While it's NOT all about the food (even though we can be so quick to blame it), adding foods in like chia, lentils and oats) can greatly improve your constipation Three items I recommend you add to your list next time around? Chia seeds, lentils, and oats. Here's why: chia seeds and oats have soluble fiber to help bulk
@drheatherfinley posted to Instagram: I can't stand it when people are told the only solution for their bloat is to eliminate more foods... Unless you have an actual allergy or celiac, you don't have to be gluten, dairy, or soy-free or cut every food group you love forever in order to be bloat free. Elimination is NOT always the solution to your constipation and bloat - just ask my gutTogether client Laura. She was so scared to add foods back in to her diet after cutting them out. When we aske
@drheatherfinley posted to Instagram: Is your bloat caused by dysbiosis? 👇🏼 🐛Dysbiosis is a fancy term for an imbalance of "good" guys and "bad" guys in your gut.⁣⁣ gutTogether client Amber had ALL of these symptoms. They were causing her to feel embarrassed at work, and she felt so held back from living freely and enjoying her life Before she came to us, Amber dealt with gut issues for most of her life. She'd seen multiple doctors, tried elimination diets, and took all th

@drheatherfinley posted to Instagram: 💓 Double tap if you needed this reminder Real talk: I remember when I felt so defeated and lost with my own gut issues. More importantly, I remember feeling tired of hearing, “just take this supplement” or "try [insert fad here]" when I knew there was more to my issues.I spent over two decades struggling with gut issues, trying countless diets and doctors in the process before finally finding relief...⁣ How did I figure things out? I learned abo
@drheatherfinley posted to Instagram: Can you relate? (Exciting webinar announcement below!!) I don’t know about you, but I spent YEARS spinning my wheels trying to figure out out my path as a dietitian. I started out in a clinical job just like everyone said I had to, and would literally cry on the way to work (thanks mom for answering my calls).I thought I'd made a huge career mistake. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Then, I realized: I didn’t have to stay stuck in a job I hated. :point_right_ton
@drheatherfinley posted to Instagram: SHARE these reasons to be bananas about bananas! While I don't prescribe specific foods to magically "heal the gut," (because 1 food will not make or break gut health) I do love to highlight the benefits of some of them - including bananas! They're so often demonized by diet culture, when in reality, they can be totally nourishing for your body and great for your digestive system. Plus, they're just plain tasty! I've had countless conversations with client
@drheatherfinley posted to Instagram: SAVE if you don't know WHY you have acid reflux! It is not uncommon for women who struggle with bloat and constipation to also struggle with some sort of form of acid reflux. While everyone's underlying causes are unique to them, here are four potential reasons you could be struggling: - H Pylori - we see this often GI map testing in our clients - low stomach acid (can mimic symptoms of high stomach acid) - constipation - stress Acid reflux is a potentia

@drheatherfinley posted to Instagram: 💓 What would you tell your younger self on her gut health journey? I remember being in my early 20s and feeling so defeated with my own gut issues. I'd spent over two decades struggling and was at the point of wanting to give up. I thought that the entire reason I had digestive issues was because of food! I even remember being in a restaurant with my family when I was 12 years old, and my dad asked me what I wanted to order and I just started cry
@drheatherfinley posted to Instagram: If you had to hum a song right now, what would it be?🎶⁣⁣ Taking just a few minutes daily to HUM can really improve your digestion. Plus, you can pretend it's your birthday every day..and who doesn't love their birthday!⁣⁣⁣ Your gut and brain are connected by something called the *vagus nerve* and when you sing or hum, it stimulates this nerve, which stimulates your digestive tract to move.⁣ 👏⁣⁣⁣⁣ So, next time you're about to eat a meal, try hu
