One of my biggest units of the school year is my informational writing unit. This can be a tricky unit for students because students want to write with first or second person pronouns and include their own opinions. Teaching informational writing takes time and practice to help students succeed at it, especially if students have informational writing topics they are passionate about.

Students can use these sentence started to create a well written informative piece. Students can use this to practice how topic sentences, details, and closing sentences should start. Teachers can use this as an anchor chart to display for students to refer to while writing.

You probably already know that I LOVE teaching writing. And you might think I'm crazy, but nonfiction writing might be my favorite type of writing. It's hard to call favorites, but truthfully - I find it the easiest (personally) than other types of writing. I think that might be because informative writing is about "teaching."
