Christmas Vintage Style Busted Canvas | By Creating Through Chaos | Hey everybody it's Janice with Creating Ducas. I'm going to set this project off with this a five by seven a flat canvas from Dollar Tree. And I'm going to take this green scrapbook paper. I'm going to lay my canvas on here and then cut that green paper out. And then I am going to mod podge that onto the canvas. So I'm just going to make sure I cut correctly and then put some Mod Podge on this canvas and put that green paper right on there. Once I have the paper all on there I'm going to set that aside and let it fully dry. I'm going to take a five by seven stretched canvas. I'm going to cut a piece of paper to fit the backside of it. And I'm going to put some Mod Podge in there and then lay this paper in. This paper is like a plaid paper. I can't remember where I got it. I think it came from a scrapbook paper book at Hobby Lobby. So I'm just making sure I enough Mod Podge in here. And then I'm going to lay that paper in. And then I'm just going to smooth that out with my hands. I used a Xacto knife to kind of push it under the canvas because I kind of cut a little bit wrong. And then I'm just going to take a dry paint brush. I did not put a mod podge on this. And I'm going to use that to help push down the paper. And then I'm going to let that fully dry. Once that was fully dry I'm going to take some of this hunter green color. And I'm going to paint around the edges of the canvas. And this again is the stretched canvas. So I'm just going to paint the edges all the way up into the edges on the actual front of the canvas itself as well. Once that is all painted and dry I'm going to take some Mod Podge and lay that on that stretched canvas top part now. And then I'm going to take this holly paper that I got I also believe at Hobby Lobby. And I'm going to lay that on top. I've already pre-cut this out. I did the same thing. Just laid the canvas on. Traced it out. And then I'm going to lay that right on top. And then I'm just going to smooth that out with my hands and then I'm just going to let that fully dry before I do anything else to it. Once it was a fully dry I'm going to sand off all the excess on the edges. And I'm going to just do that all the way around the whole canvas. Once that was all sanded I'm just going to replace some of the paint that I took off by sanding and I'm just using one of my ink applicators. And I just dipped it in that green paint that I previously used. And just going around and getting those edges. And I'm just sort of dabbing it on. Cuz I kind of wanted to go up over the top but not fully. I just want to make sure that that white is covered. Next I'm going to take that same color paint and I'm going to do it on the sides of the flat canvass that we did the green paper on before. So just going around and making sure that that is also covered in that colour. Once those were dry I'm going to take this postcard. It's like a vintage style postcard. And I got it on Amazon. It came from the same package that I got these Santas from that I've used on previous projects. And I'm going to mod podge that to the center of the flat canvass so over that green that we did the first time and I'm just putting a really thick coat because it is a postcard so it's a little bit thicker than normal scrapbook paper I'm going to lay that on and then just press it down with my hands and then I'm going to let that fully dry once that was all done I'm going to take an Xacto knife and cut the front of my stretch canvas and I'm just doing an X here and then I'm going to go side to side Just kind of pushing my Xacto knife through and then doing that all the way around. He's kind of pulling the Xacto knife towards me once I have those all cut I can start peeling them back so I'm just going to start pulling them up making sure I get it rid of any excess paper and then I'm going to take a as you can see there's little excess paper there so I cut that then I'm going to take a paint brush handle and I tried a skinny one at first and it didn't work so I ended up grabbing a bigger paintbrush with the handle and I use that to start pulling back the slits that I made so I'm just going to Keep doing that all the way around and this help kind of hold them in place. One of my followers gave me this idea and it worked fantastic. So whoever you were, thank you very much. And I'm just going to keep wrapping them around and go all the way around the whole entire canvas. So I have all those slits that we just cut and they're all pulled back. Once I have those all pulled back I am going to take the back part of the canvas where we put the postcard. I'm going to flip over this one and I'm going to glue that back on. So I'm just going to put some hot glue all the way around and then lay that in. I want to make sure that that's all even. And look how cute this is so far. I absolutely love this postcard. Next I'm going to start gluing those pieces down all the way around the canvas. So just adding some glue and then pulling them back because I already used the paintbrush to roll them all back so it really helped in the gluing part. So now I'm just holding them until they are set and then I can go all the way around and finish up these last couple. And I think it's turning out absolutely adorable. Next I'm going to take some greenery that I got at Walmart. I just got this this year actually and it's great greenery. It's got like a little bit of a frosted glittery look. I'm going to add two pieces of that on the side of the canvas. So I'm just going to kind of lay them on with some hot glue. Then I made this really cute bow out of a piece of velvet ribbon and I'm going to just add that to the center of those greenery of the greenery. And then finally I'm going to use this Tim Holtz cutout and it says Christmas greetings. I'm going to add that right to the bottom. And that is it. This project is finished. I think this turned out so super cute and I just had to do a Christmas busted canvas. Thank you guys for watching. I hope you enjoyed this video. I hope it inspires you to make one and as always don't forget to spread the chaos.
