Collaboration | Dinner Party

Collaboration | It happened again. Food stylist @champagneandcookies came over for a Dinner Party. We planned and cooked from Melissa Clark's @clarkbar Dinner : Changing the game. We are both a part of the @food52 Cookbook Club and thought it'd be fun to gather, cook together and enjoy the variety and flavors from the seasonal menu. Oh my, it was delicious. Menu Egg Crostini w/ Anchovy and Radish (don't skip an ingredient! The good toast, creamy butter, egg and toppings are perfection) Cumin-Chicken Meatballs w/ Green Chili Sauce. (I love having an all baked meatball recipe. The cumin in the meat + sauce/YES) Fresh Corn Cakes w/Tomatoes and Crispy Sage. (Alone the Corn Cakes were enough, then you add the toppings, oh my) Burrata Caprese w/ Peaches and Basil (the dressing is to die for, I slowly finished my meal with tiny bits of each favor) Bitter Lime Tequila Tonics Dessert not from book: Peach Blackberry Bourbon Pie w/ Madagascar Vanilla Ice Cream @biritecreamery The side story is we almost had to cancel the event due to a soccer injury my teen son sustained. Instead he joined us via the sofa, calling out for more Corn Cakes, nibbling on the Olive Oil Chocolate Chip Cookies @champagneandcookies brought him to help with healing. I was behind when our guests arrived but we all pitched in made the meal together, laughing along the way. We also celebrated my daughter making the JV volleyball team as a Freshman. The celebration continued this morning when she fixed herself the promised pie for breakfast! With all the stress this past week, I needed this time in the kitchen and around the table with friends. I grew up 30 minutes from Charlottesville, my husband grew up there, we summer there and many dear friends still live there. It has been hard to be far away.
