In order to avoid messy cupboards try to keep like items together by material, size, shape and function. Chuck out containers which are missing a lid. I prefer glass containers so one can see what's inside, when you place them in the fridge or freezer. It's also healthier to rewarm glass in the microwave compared to plastics.
