Smoked Turkey on the Traeger - Cook, Craft, Cultivate
Making a whole smoked turkey on the Traeger (or other wood pellet grill) is easier than you might think, and it turns out delicious! We have been commissioned on numerous Thanksgivings to make the turkey, and a smoked turkey on the Traeger is usually our method of choice. It is simple, has minimal mess, and keeps the oven free for other necessities like bread, pie, stuffing, etc. Or maybe some vegetables :)

Once the turkey was flattened out, i seasoned with my @kendrick_bbq Pork and Poultry with Honey Rub. Used the Meater Pro XL for this cook. I probed the center of the breast and center of the thigh. Pretty straight forward cook on the @traegergrills 275° till done. No spritzing or basting. Finished about 5 hours later when the breast reached 160°. The dark meat will finish just over 170°. The finish product speaks for itself. Knowing your internal temps will lead you to perfection every time. . . . . . . . . #traegergrills #kendrickbbq #meater #meatermade #turkey #turkeydinner #thanksgivingdinner #dinnerideas #friendsgiving #turkeyrecipe | Benjamin Kendrick

27 reactions | EASY THANKSGIVING TURKEY 🦃 INGREDIENTS: - Turkey - 3 sticks of salted butter - Fresh parsley, sage, thyme, rosemary - salt, pepper, garlic powder, cajun seasoning (or whatever you like) - carrots, celery, onion - lemon, orange, apple - chicken stock (if making gravy with drippings- see gravy recipe) METHOD: - make sure bird is defrosted - buy bird at least 3 days in advance - remove neck, bag, and plastic - preheat oven to 325F - place onion, carrots, celery in the bottom of your disposable roasting pan. Easy clean up, and lifts the bird off the bottom to cook evenly - salt generously all around the turkey and inside the cavity - separate skin from meat use your hand - create the herb butter mixture with 3 sticks of softened salted butter and chopped parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder and cajun seasoning - place the herb butter mixture between the skin and meat - season the skin with cajun seasoning - place the remaining butter on top of the skin - cut up lemon, apple and orange and fill the cavity - tie the legs together - bake at 325F for 2 hours and baste every 30 mins after that until the internal temp hits 160F Typically its 15 mins of cook time per pound (my 13 lb bird cooked for 3 hours) - allow 20-30mins of rest time for the juices to absorb into the meat - i like to shred the white meat and add some roasting juices to the top Enjoy and happy thanksgiving! #thanksgivingturkey #easyturkeyrecipe #thanksgivingdinner #thanksgivingrecipes #easythanksgivingturkey #thanksgivingfood | Bryannah Kay
