BREAD – We used a French Baguette as the crispy base for our garlic butter spread. You can also use French bread if you prefer a slightly softer texture with the same delicious results.
BUTTER – Provides a creamy texture and carries the flavors of garlic and spices. We use unsalted butter to control the saltiness, ensuring every bite is perfectly balanced. If you choose salted butter, reduce the amount of salt.
Make sure that you are working with softened butter. So I recommend leaving the butter out for about 30 minutes so it can rise to room temperature. Alternatively, you can use your microwave’s ‘soften butter’ function to speed up the process.
CHEESE – Grated Parmesan cheese adds a nutty flavor and a slightly crispy texture when toasted, enhancing the garlic bread’s overall savoriness. If you like an extra cheesy garlic bread, you can always add a little bit of grated Mozzarella cheese.
SEASONING – A blend of fresh minced garlic cloves, diced parsley, salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes creates a rich and complex flavor profile. The garlic adds a strong, aromatic punch, the parsley brings a touch of freshness, the salt and pepper balance the flavors, and the red pepper flakes introduce a subtle heat for those who like a little spice in their bite.
TIP – If You don’t have fresh parsley on hand, you can use dried parsley instead.

Planning and Leftovers
STORE – To keep leftover garlic bread fresh, wrap it tightly in aluminum foil or place it in an airtight container. Stored this way, it will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 3 days. For the best texture, avoid storing it in plastic bags, which can trap moisture and make the bread soggy.
FREEZE – Garlic bread freezes exceptionally well. Wrap individual slices or the entire loaf in aluminum foil, then place them in a freezer bag, squeezing out as much air as possible. Frozen garlic bread can last for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to enjoy it, there’s no need to thaw; you can reheat it directly from frozen.
REHEAT – To revive the garlic bread to its crispy glory, reheat it in the oven or air fryer. For the oven, preheat to 350° Fahrenheit and place the bread on a baking sheet; heat for about 5-10 minutes or until warm and crispy. In the air fryer, reheat at 350° Fahrenheit for 2-3 minutes. These methods help maintain the bread’s crispy edges and soft center.
MAKE AHEAD – The garlic butter mixture can be prepared up to a week in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Having this ready to go makes assembling and cooking the garlic bread quick and easy, especially when you’re short on time. Just spread it onto your bread slices when you’re ready to bake.
Recipe Success Tips
AVOID OVERCROWDING – To make sure each slice of garlic bread gets crispy, arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd. Cook in multiple batches if necessary for best results.
WATCH CAREFULLY – Keep a close eye on the garlic bread as it cooks to prevent burning. Cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer, so adjust as needed to achieve your desired level of crispiness.
TEST FOR DONENESS – To ensure the garlic bread is cooked through, gently press it with a fork or tongs. When ready, it should feel crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
ENJOY IMMEDIATELY: Garlic bread is best enjoyed fresh from the air fryer while it’s still warm and crispy.

While I love using French baguette for this recipe, you have plenty of other choices that work. You can use Italian bread, ciabatta bread, homemade sandwich bread (think Air Fryer Garlic Toast!), or our simple 3-ingredient homemade bread.
