And it’s a great idea for a midweek dessert treat the whole family will love.

About This Peach Cobbler Dump Cake

You would not believe how incredibly delicious and flavorful this dessert is. Especially for something so easy to make!

When I had my first dump cake on a visit to my friend’s house, I was amazed at how something so sweet, moist, and tender is made by “dumping” a few ingredients on a baking pan- hence the name.

So, I tried making my own Blueberry Dump Cake, and I was hooked!

I recently came across their Peach Halves in glass jars at Trader Joe’s. They looked so good I was not able to resist buying some!

Of course, when I visited the baking aisle and saw Trader Joe’s Cake Vanilla Cake Mix boxes, I immediately knew I had to make this special peach version!

I added some cinnamon to the cake mixture to take this amazing recipe to the next level. The result is sheer perfection.

Walnuts and peaches are an awesome flavor combination. Plus, it adds a little extra crunch, making this easy dessert recipe memorable.

It’s such a great summer dessert, but you can make it any time of the year!

Why This Peach Dump Cake Recipe Works

We love easy and delicious dessert recipes, which is one of the best. It’s an easy version of a peach cobbler recipe using a ready-made cake mix.

It’s perfect when you need to make something amazing last minute.

Layer all the ingredients in a baking pan or a casserole dish and slide it into the oven.

It’s a no-fuss, hands-off recipe, so you can start making your lunch or dinner while your dessert is baking! Clean-up is a breeze, with no additional pots, skillets, or bowls waiting on the kitchen sink for you.

This baked fruit dessert is also a nifty treat to bring to potlucks, picnics, and parties.

ingredients needed to make a Peach Dump Cake

This is one of those amazing recipes with simple ingredients but abundant, delicious flavors. As the name suggests, it’s also one of the easiest desserts. Perfect when your schedule is jam-packed, but you still want to make that special sweet treat.

Peaches – these summer stone fruits are super juicy and sweet! Because this is a simple dessert, we are NOT using fresh peaches. While I often advocate for fresh fruit, we’ll use a can of peaches for this dessert. I used peaches that were soaked in heavy syrup. It’s all part of the magic!

Vanilla Cake Mix – I used Trader Joe’s Vanilla Cake Mix. I think it is the nicest dry cake mix on the market. But if you don’t have Trader Joe’s nearby, don’t worry. Just grab any vanilla cake mix you can find at your local supermarket. And if you have a box of yellow cake mix or white cake mix, you can use that as well.

Butter – make sure to use unsalted butter for this recipe. The key is to slice the butter into really thin slices. You’ll want to cover your entire cake with a thin layer of butter. I’ve also tested this recipe with melted butter and didn’t like the results. It was just too hard to coat every inch of the cake when I used evenly melted butter. I find this to be the case for all dump cake recipes.

Cinnamon – the warm flavor of cinnamon naturally pairs well with vanilla.

Walnuts – I love combining walnuts with peaches. The walnuts create a crunchy topping that adds both flavor and texture.

Variations and Additions

NUTMEG – this aromatic spice is just made to go together with cinnamon. Together, they add a festive flavor to any dessert.

ICE CREAM – Although ice cream technically isn’t part of the recipe, you should definitely try to serve your dump cake with your favorite ice cream. Adding a scoop is simply heavenly!

WHIPPED CREAM – If you want to take it to the next level, add a big dollop of whipped cream. The contrast of the warm cake and cool cream takes this dish to another level.

NUTS – Aside from walnuts, you can also use pistachio, almonds, macadamia, or chopped pecans.

Recipe Success Tips

Baking time may vary depending on the pan and oven used.

Check if your Peach Dump Cake is baked through by inserting a toothpick in the middle of the cake. The cake can be pulled out from the oven if it comes out clean.

Use cold, unsalted butter sliced very thinly, and make sure that the surface of the cake is evenly covered.

Leftovers

This dessert should be served warm.

And it’s best if you also add a scoop of ice cream. In my opinion, vanilla ice cream works best. But feel free to experiment with other flavors, such as butter pecan ice cream.

I also like to add a dollop of whipped cream. I love to use this canned whipped cream when I don’t feel like making whipped cream from scratch. It almost tastes like it’s homemade.

You can also easily turn this recipe into an on-the-go snack. Portion the dump cake into single-serve mason jars like these! Add a lid, and you’ve got a delicious homemade dessert for on-the-go.

This cake does not need to be refrigerated. Cover the baking dish with a lid or transfer it into an airtight container like this one.

Make sure to allow the cake to cool down completely before refrigerating. Cover the entire peach dump cake with aluminum foil, saran, or cling wrap. It should stay good for a week at most. You can reheat portions in a microwave.
