Our Pineapple Dump Cake is an easy-to-make dessert that brings the flavors of pineapple and buttery cake mix together.
Baked to perfection, sweet and tangy pineapples are topped with a buttery, moist yellow cake crumb mixture infused with bits of caramelized brown sugar, resulting in a delightfully crunchy and fruity dessert.
Pineapple Dump Cake Recipe Highlights
- QUICK & EASY – This is hands-down one of the easiest desserts you will ever make. You only need a few simple ingredients to make this dump cake, and in less than an hour, you have a warm fruit cake! Best of all, prep takes just 5 minutes!
- FAMILY FAVORITE -The entire family will love this sweet treat, especially if you add a scoop of ice cream or Cool Whip.
Ingredient Notes
Please check the recipe card below for a detailed, printable ingredient list.
PINEAPPLE – I like different textures. That’s why I like to grab a can of Pineapple Tidbits and a can of Pineapple Chunks. But you can use Pineapple Tidbits only or Pineapple Chunks only. For a different experience, you can also use crushed Pineapple.
And, of course, you can always use fresh pineapple and frozen ones, too. But for this recipe, canned fruit works just fine.
CAKE MIX – I used a yellow cake mix, but you can use a white cake mix, or if you want to go down a fruity route, look for pineapple cake mix or lemon cake mix.
BROWN SUGAR – Adds a bit of crunchy sweetness.
BUTTER – As always, I recommend unsalted butter for baking. But use what you have on hand.
BLUEBERRY DUMP CAKE – This time, we layer fresh blueberries, cake mix, and butter and bake it until golden brown and bubbly.
How To Make A Pineapple Dump Cake
Please check the printable recipe card below for more detailed instructions.

- BAKE – Set the oven to 375º Fahrenheit and bake for 45 minutes.
Serving Ideas
One of my favorite ways to enjoy most dump cakes is with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, especially when the dump cake is freshly baked and still a little warm.
And, of course, a dollop of whipped cream always goes a long way.
Leftovers and Storage
STORE – Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and store in the fridge for up to 5 days. Alternatively, you can transfer any leftovers into an airtight container and store the container in the refrigerator.
FREEZE – Yes, you can freeze a Pineapple Dump Cake. There are two methods I recommend. In each case, you can freeze the Pineapple Dump Cake for up to 3 months.
Method 1 – Paper Plate Method: Plate individual portions of the cake onto paper (or plastic plates) and wrap those with plastic wrap and/or aluminum foil.
Method 2 – Mini Mason Jars: I love this method because it’s more sustainable than the first. Mason jars are great for freezing because, if intact, they will provide an airtight seal.
The easiest method to reheat a dump cake is to pop a slice in the microwave. But if you have a larger batch, you can set your oven to 300º Fahrenheit and gently warm it for 10 minutes.

Request you specify if the cans of pineapple are 8 ounces or 20 ounces.
Hi Fred. You are absolutely correct! Thank you for pointing it out. If you ever see this, just also know that I add a link to the product in the recipe card. But you are correct, it should also be specified. I’ve update the recipe card accordingly. Happy New Year.
Great recipe! I’m an American expat, living in Thailand now. I saw this Pineapple Dump Cake recipe and since pineapple is pervasive here, I went to the fresh market, bought a couple of pineapples, cut them into chunks, and then simmered the chunks in a brown turbinado sugar syrup, before using the chunks to finish your recipe. WONDERFUL, with vanilla ice cream!
Loved this. I made this using one can ea, peach and pear.
Anothet good flavor combo.
