Another of Europe’s oldest surviving dresses: The Florentine gown, ca. 1550-60. Pisa: Museo di Palazzo Reale. Source: Pinterest. This red velvet dress Is one of two surviving dresses from Florence during the period 1540-1580. The other is Eleonora of Toledo’s burial dress. This dress was once believed to have also been worn by Eleanor.
