I had to devise a way to both support the shelf and connect it to it's neighbor. The result was very strong, but not very elegant. I fabricated the part that connects the two shelves from pieces of discarded baseboard. I also used a lot of screws where I could use nails so more nails used in next three brackets. I could also nail the rail, but screws are more accurate.
