Skye Hamilton • Home & Garden • Hydrangea Queen on Instagram: "Fertilizing Hydrangeas! It may be tempting to downplay the role of hydrangea fertilizer, but fertilizing is one of the best things you can do for your plant. Some varieties benefit more than others, but in general l, it will give you more bountiful and large blooms., as well as better growth and health of the plant as a whole. Hydrangeas are not cheap plants. They are an investment, and this is the best way to care for, and get the most out of that investment. Here are my top tips for fertilizing hydrangeas: * Fertilize hydrangeas, twice a year, once in mid to late spring, and again in mid summer. * Try to apply your first application between the time you see leaves emerge, but before actual blooms. * And apply your second fer

For a heavy pruning, the best time to do it is in late winter before the plant has started to put out the new green leaves for the year. If you miss that window, you can still change the shape of your plant and remove low-hanging branches. Let’s prune this one together! #mastergardener #gardening101 #hydrangeaseason #hydrangea #growyourownflowers | Blueacre Garden | blueacregarden · Original audio

I tested it out this year in the garden and now that we’ve had a hard storm — I am happy to report that it WORKED.A couple of things to note: 1) pruning this way will delay your limelight hydrangea blooms — which means you have to be atleast a somewhat patient gardener Also: 2) it’s shedding season, so expect dog hair on my clothes for the time being — I can’t seem to make it through the day without dog hair 😝Hope you try this tip — this is definitely how I’m going to be pruning my limelight hydrangeas from now on 👌#hydrangeas #hydrangeatips #floppyhydrangeas #hydrangeaseason #hydrangeaflower #provenwinners | Everyday Gardening Tips | Everyday Gardening Tips · Original audio

( I don’t use vermiculite or perlite as its production isn’t environmentally friendly!)🧚🏻 Reduce the amount of foliage and keep your cuttings moist, but not overwatered. 🧚🏻 Your cuttings will root within few weeks. 🧚🏻 By the time your hydrangeas will create leaves, you’ll have your new seedings. PS. I’ve been propagating plants for over 30 years and it’s something I’m absolutely fascinated and passionate about. Propagation means hope, new growth and progress. I hope you get inspired...#hydrangea #hydrangeas #garden #gardeninglife #explorepage #homeandgardenig #dreamgarden #cottagegarden #gardening #sustainablegardening #gardeningtips #gyo #gardeninglove #gardeninglovers #homeandgarden #gardeningforbeginners #gardentools #gardeningtools #pruning | anya_thegarden_fairy | anya_thegarden_fairy · Original audio

What type you have determines when you can prune. If you have an oak leaf, a climbing hydrangea or one of those colorful macrophylla hydrangeas, they have flower buds on those wood stems in the winter time. Now, many of the buds in my Chicago climate do not survive the winter and many of those buds are dead. That’s why macro are not a plant I recommend you invest in if you live in the Chicagoland area. Any plant that has buds that have to overwinter on those stems, you don’t want to prune those in the Fall or early spring because you’ll prune those flower buds off. Wait until the flowers come out and then prune. Ideally you would never prune these and just plant them in a location and leave them alone. The panicle and smooth leaf hydrangeas can be pruned in late winter early spring. #Hydrangeas #Pruning #Garden #Gardening #GardeningLife #GardeningTips #arlingtonheightsillinois #arlingtonheightsil | Amy Powers

Carmen Johnston Gardens on Instagram: "The snowball vibernum bush can tolerate the freezing winter temperature of zone 6 and the summer heat down to zone 8, but does not do well in climates that are warmer or colder than this…but may take zone 9 in certain places. Bridal wreath grows best in full sun, well-draining loamy or acidic soils, withstanding wintery weather and summer temperatures, growing naturally in zones 5 through 8."

Once in mid spring (I do it in mid/ late April). Then once again in mid summer. Here are a few tips for summer fertilizing: * Wet your soil before application to prevent fertilizer burn * Apply in the early morning or late evening, or an overcast day. * Water in well after application This is especially important for those panicle hydran
