How to build a shaker style range hood

I don't have updated pictures of everything to share, but I wanted to take the time to let you all know how I went about building my range hood, because it was something that I really took a lot of time and researching to figure out how the heck to go about. Here’s how we did it… We started with finding an under cabinet range hood and secured it into place. In order for the cover to function properly, it was important to find a range with the switches located underneath. Once the range was secured to the wall, we used 2x4s to build the frame. This specific range has the option for non-ducted operation. To get the vent to function, we added a 6” flexible duct hose to a 6” registered duct boot. We mounted this to the side of the hood and used a charcoal filter so that the air will properly vent out the side of the hood.
