Rock City Gardens located in Lookout Mountain, GA near Chattanooga, TN
Once upon a time.... 💛 In 1924, a man named Garnett Carter bought 700 acres of land to build a housing development and named it "Fairyland" (the name came from his wife's love of folklore)- they even named the streets after fairytale characters 📚 While he was off building houses, his wife, Frieda had planted hundreds of different species of trees, flowers and shrubs admist the amazing rock formations. 🌿 Magic happened when this beautiful place named "Rock City Gardens" was opened to the public in 1932. In 1947 Frieda, along with artist Jessie Sanders started drilling through the rock to create Fairyland Caverns! Inside you'll find rows of 3-D dioramas of fairytale scenes and an incredible Mother Goose village display at the end. This place gave me so much happiness and nostalgia
