The writings of the minor prophets were preparing mankind for the arrival of the Messiah.
When God gave man the Mosaic law with its detailed explanation of sin, sacrifice, and priesthood, man was given the specifics of how to approach God. With the incarnation, those details and that relationship radically changed.
