One personal artistic interpretation of the flag flown by the ships of the major character Bosk, captain of Port Kar (a.k.a. Tarl Cabot of Bristol) in John Norman's "Gor" series of science fiction novels, based on the verbal descriptions contained in books 6, 8, and 11 of the series: A white field with vertical green bars, on which is placed a black head of a bosk (which is a heavy draft-animal somewhat analogous to an earth ox, with horns). The green symbolizes the "rence" marshes of the delta of the Vosk river, and the head symbolizes his assumed name "Bosk". For a simplified map of Gor showing the location of Port Kar and the Vosk river delta, see Image:Gor-map-simplified.svg .
