Description
English: The U.S. Military Academy at West Point held their graduation and commissioning ceremony for the Class of 2019 at Michie Stadium in West Point, N.Y., May 25, 2019. This year, 985 cadets graduated. Among them were 10 international cadets. The class includes 221 women, 110 African-Americans (32 are women; the most for any class in academy history), 79 Asian/Pacific Islanders, 88 Hispanics and seven Native Americans. There are 119 members who attended the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School (98 men and 21 women). There are 60 class members who are prior service, 11 of those are combat veterans. In attendance were commencement speaker Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of the Army Mark T. Esper and Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. Mark A. Milley. Each year, USMA graduates officers who are leaders of character committed to the values of duty, honor, country. (U.S. Army Photo by Brandon O'Connor)
