English: Portrait of Maria Josepha of Austria (1699-1757), formerly identified as Catherine II of Russia (1729-1796).
Français : "Dans l'Inventaire Reiset, cette miniature était identifiée comme : Portrait présumé de Catherine II, impératrice de Russie. Dans son catalogue (Notice des dessins, cartons, pastels, miniatures et émaux exposés dans les salles de 1er et du 2e étage au musée impérial du Louvre. Deuxième partie : Ecole française, dessins indiens, émaux, par Frédéric Reiset, Paris, 1869 ; chapitre Emaux d'artistes inconnus, XVIIIe siècle, p. 259, n° 1512) le même Frédéric Reiset, revient sur cette identification sans corriger son inventaire, il reconnait dans le modèle Marie-Josèphe d'Autriche, reine de Pologne, électrice de Saxe, le met en rapport avec le grand portrait en pied, peint par Louis de Silvestre en 1737, gravé par Daullé en 1750. Il indique également : Elle est vue presque de face. La robe, verte et or, est bordée d'hermine. Elle porte sur la poitrine plusieurs décorations." [1] |
