COM:TOYS DanielPenfield (talk) 07:32, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a bit confused at the claim of "COM:TOYS". This appears to be an image of a particular set of goggles which, while they can be used as a toy, don't really appear to have anything above COM:TOO in their shape. The only real unique thing is the inclusion of the reflector in the middle, but that would seem to be a utilitarian thing rather than a toy; "drunk driving glasses" work in a similar way. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 03:13, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are you certain that Vango Toys, the marketer and manufacturer of The #UpsideDownChallenge Game, isn't going to claim infringement on anyone using this image? Do you think they're not going to be aggrieved over the unauthorized use of their #UpsideDownChallenge logo? Are you certain that Phaidon Press, Inc, the publisher of Exploring the Elements: A Complete Guide to the Periodic Table, the book whose cover appears behind the goggles isn't going to feel their book cover design is being infringed? In what Wikimedia project could this poorly-composed image be used? What was the point in uploading a photo that mixes two products from two different companies and pretends that those two companies aren't going to sic their lawyers on Wikimedia? -- DanielPenfield (talk) 14:37, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Serious doubts about the ownership of these images (see also uploader history and talk page) as they have been made with various camera's or lack EXIF, some have traces on the web. Uploader needs to supply names of the real photographer and if they agree with the given license.

Yes, and Torquemada is also a family name. Either way, not a reason for deletion. However I am unsure of it this is in project COM:SCOPE - photo of person lying on a floor, may be part of a series of a theater production? -- Infrogmation of New Orleans (talk) 17:01, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright? Is the user the same person as Paul Richer mentioned in the metadata? Wouter (talk) 16:08, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The image seems to be from the GSBS Architects website and has been used on their social media pages. Seems unlikely (though theoretically not impossible) that the uploader had the rights to upload this. Jan-Janko (talk) 20:18, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Very likely copyvio. No FoP in Costa Rica. Copyright is 70 years pma, so these are not PD until at least 2089, assuming sculptor died the moment the photo was taken. We can't assume the sculptures are freely licensed.

Files uploaded by Pierrebess

[edit]

All those files uploaded by User:Pierrebess are marked as "Private Pierre Besnainou" in the title or the description. If uploader, who's indicated as being the author of those pictures, is indeed French entrepreneur Pierre Besnainou as his user name would sugest (which isn't proved), that means those are supposed to be selfies. But considering how most of them are taken, it seems impossible. Furthermore, they seem to have varying qualities (some seems professional, other amateurs or even screenshots). There are clearly different authors behind them. We need the real names and authorization of the photographers.

Other files not marked as "private Pierre Besnainou", but for which I doubt uploader's the real photographer:

Another photo, File:Pierre Besnainou.jpg, also marked as "Private Pierre Besnainou", has a very obvious watermark with the real photographer's name "Alain Azria". I already added a "Missing permission" template before starting this mass deletion request.

--Titlutin (talk) 22:10, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible CC-BY-SA license, dual copyright issue: The doll in the photo is a work by Oskar Kokoschka, who died in 1980, and so it is protected until 2050 (70 years after the death of the creator), and the 1919 photo itself may also be protected by copyright if the photographer died less than 70 years ago (the metadata says © Fine Art Images anyway). Gestumblindi (talk) 22:45, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I mistakenly assumed that Oskar Kokoschka made this doll, but per Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Alma Mahler doll, the creator of the dolll is Hermine Moos, who died in 1928, so the doll itself is in the public domain. If the photographer is positively unknown, this request can be treated as withdrawn, though in this case we have an explicit (bogus?) copyright claim in the metadata... and in any case, if the image is kept, the description should be amended to name Hermine Moos as the creator of the work (the doll), with an appropriate PD template. Gestumblindi (talk) 23:30, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is a drawing by Oskar Kokoschka who died in 1980, so it is still protected in Austria by copyright until 2050 (70 years after the creator's death), see also warning template at the top of Category:Oskar Kokoschka. The file description is a bit confusing, giving the uploader as the author, but they obviously just took the photo (the drawing is signed "OK").
