Somalia barely has a functioning government, least of all a proper navy. There is no source and it makes no sense why it would also have what appears to be an air force roundel in it. While there appears to be an armed forces flag in photos, I can not find any evidence for this image. Fry1989 eh? 02:55, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just because a country has no real navy, doesn't mean it can't have naval flags -- Luxembourg has an ensign, even though it has no seacoast. But you're right insofar as this seems to be unknown to FOTW, so that I'd be curious to know what the evidence for it is... AnonMoos (talk) 14:52, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Luxembourg has a national ensign for use by all on the water, but no actual navy. Bolivia has a river navy and claims to the ocean, so it has a naval ensign. Somalia is on it's knees and that's a big difference. It's not sourced anywhere, and therefore it is highly unlikely. Fry1989 eh? 17:42, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fry1989 -- it's really not the case that because something is not in actual physical existence, a flag for it can't exist. If this image is deleted, it will be because there's no evidence of the flag design being adopted by any Somali entity, and not automatically because there happen to be no boats which could fly the flag... I never said that if something doesn't exist, then there can't be a flag for it. All I've said is "unlikely". Do you really have to resort to twisting my words? Fry1989 eh? 19:18, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If unsourced, and it is not possible to find a source, it has to be deleted, as usual. Commons is not for self-created images...--Antemister (talk) 18:10, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Antemister -- As has been repeatedly explained to you in detail, there is a de facto Commons policy of allowing "Special or fictional flags" in many circumstances. If this image is deleted, it will be for being a hoax flag, and NOT for being an ordinary garden-variety "Special or fictional flag"... AnonMoos (talk) 16:31, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
