Description
English: Agrarian socialism monument by sculptor Barna Búza and architect József Schall (1981 bronze reliefs, nine figures, 90th anniversary). It made on the 90th anniversary of the Agricultural Socialist Rebellion in Battonya in 1891. Story: The wave of protests that started in Orosháza (Békés County) on 1 May 1891 and swept through the south Békés County also claimed the death toll in Battonya, Békés County. The revolt in Battonya on 21 June is a memorable event of the agricultural socialist movement. Gendarmes fire kills four protesters, seven severely injured and twenty-one others injured. The deployed soldiers and gendarmes fired first on 1 May 1891, at Orosháza, then on 2 and 3 May in Békéscsaba, then in June in Battonya, to a peasant crowd demonstrating against the small agricultural wages and the striation of the landowners. /Translated by Microsoft Translator/
