Summary from en: wiki

[edit]

An audio CD of mine. Portion shown is the innermost, as such would doubtless be the intro to the first track. Taken with a Sony T-33 zoomed in about 2X, held up to the 10X eyepiece of a microscope using the 100X lens (100X total, 10X). The CD was placed directly on the microscope, and illuminated from the side with a very small bright-white LED.

The pits in a CD are 500nm wide, between 830nm and 3000nm long and 150nm deep.

The total track width, including pits and space between, is 1600nm between intervals.

Image created by Jason Kennerly in 2007.
