Object history
Deutsch: Die drei roten Rauten in Gold deuten - in versetzten Farben - auf das Wappen der Edelherren von Nister (1117 - 1187) hin. Ihr ursprünglicher Sitz war eine Turmhügelburg bei Streithausen (10./11. Jahrhundert), abgelöst durch die Burg Nistria bei Marienstatt, 1206 von Graf Heinrich III. von Sayn geschleift Der Hagedornzweig verweist auf das Wappen der 1222 von Heisterbach aus gegründeten Zisterzienserabtei Marienstatt an der Nister, in der Gemarkung Streithausen. Der Legende nach soll den die Stelle der neuen Niederlassung suchenden Mönchen mitten im Winter am vorbestimmten Ort Maria, einen blühenden Hagedornzweig haltend, erschienen sein. Die Wellenschrägstellung symbolisiert die Lage Streithausens an der Großen- und Kleinen Nister.
