| Description |
English: A mixed flock of Great Crested Grebes (Podiceps cristatus) and Little Grebes (Tachybaptus ruficollis) (also on the picture are several young of both species) that was trapped in one of the receding pools that remained when the intermittent Lake Cerknica (Slovenia) dried out almost entirely. The adults were reluctant to escape, because their young were yet unable to fly. Most of the birds were captured and taken to the nearby stable portion of the lake where they were released after the adults were ringed.
Français : Bande mêlée de Grèbe huppé (Podiceps cristatus) et castagneux (Tachybaptus ruficollis) attrapée dans une zone du lac de Cerknica (Slovénie) en train de s'assécher, puis relâchée dans une partie permanente du lac au cours d'une opération de secours menée en été 2006. Les adultes ne voulaient pas quitter cette zone temporaire du lac car les juvéniles étaient incapables de les suivre. Tous les adultes ont été bagués au cours de l'opération.
Slovenščina: Mešana jata čopastih in malih ponirkov (na sliki tudi več mladičev obeh vrst) je ostala ujeta v izginjajočem bazenčku, enem redkih ki so ostali, ko je Cerkniško jezero skoraj popolnoma presahnilo poleti 2006. Odrasli niso odleteli, ker njihovi mladiči še niso bili sposobni letenja. Večino ptičev smo ujeli, obročkali odrasle in prenesli v bližnji zadrževalnik s stabilnim vodostajem. |
