Hyalite opal fluorescense in ultraviolet rays.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Hyalite. Mexico, Zacatecas, Electric Opal Claim. The image field of view is 3x3 cm. The hyalites found here give a greenish glow even in sunlight, and they flash bright green when using ultraviolet light. This effect is associated with the presence of uranium (IV) oxide molecules in the composition of the mineral.
