Description
English: The language situation in Lithuania Minor (German: Kleinlitauen) in 1900. The yellow line indicates the extent of the Lithuanian language are in 1876 as described by Friedrich Kurschat in 1876:
Die Grenze des littauischen Sprachgebiets geht, von dessen nördlichstem an der Ostsee gelegenen Punkt ab, etwa von dem russischen Grenzorte Polangen in südlicher Richtung bis Memel längs der Ostsee, von da ab längs dem Kurischen Haff und dem Deimefluss bis gegen Tapiau. Von da ab zieht sie sich den Pregel entlang bis hinter Wehlau nach Insterburg zu, zwischen welchen beiden Städten sie diesen Fluss überspringt, dann in südöstlicher Richtung hinstreicht und in der Gegend von Goldap sich in östlicher Richtung hinziehend die polnische Grenze überschreitet.
