[edit]DescriptionNeumann TELDEC-DMM Kupferfolien-Schneidemaschine.jpg |
English: An early disc cutting lathe, probably and AM131 made by Neumann, Berlin in the early 1930s, shown here with a DMM master disc. TheDirect Metal Mastering process (DMM) was developed by TELDEC for manufacturing the master disc of vinyl records. The glass at the bottom right of this photo contains the chip or "swarf", which was cut off during the cutting process of copper masters (normally unbroken, finally with the complete length of the cut groove- the particular challenge of this special dmm-process). Own photograph of a device in the TelDec Museum, Nortorf. (Note: TelDec is a joint company of Telefunken and Decca founded in 1950) Español: Uno de los primeros tornos de corte de discos, probablemente el modelo AM131 fabricado por Neumann, en Berlin al principio de los años 1930s, mostrado aquí con un disco maestro del tipo DMM. |

This appears not to be a working DMM setup. The lathe is a vintage machine that was probably not modified to cut DMM. There're only few machines left and these are too expensive to be placed in a museum and not cut masters. Please check with the museum.
this is not a DMM lathe. this picture makes no sense. it contains an AM131 lathe used for acetate cutting. with a DMM copper blank on it. ALso the cutterhead SX-68 was used for laquer cutting only.
