Vicente Carducho: Cabeza colosal de hombre Lo curioso de esta cabeza es su tamaño. Mide 246 cm de alto, bastante mas que un hombre de estatura normal, y es por lo tanto unas 8 veces mas grande que una cabeza real. El pintor es Vicente Carducho (h. 1576-1638), artista nacido en Italia que trabajó en la corte de Felipe IV donde fue gran rival de Diego Velázquez. Quizás es el retrato colosal de un verdadero gigante (aunque no de este tamaño) y corresponde al interés que mostraba el siglo XVII en personas con anormalidades físicas cómo enanos, mujeres barbudas y gigantes. |
