Hyderabadi Food Series Episode 4: Khatti Daal 🍛

Recipe
3/4 cup masoor daal
2 large tomatoes chopped 
3 - 4 cloves garlic 
3 green chillies
Handful coriander leaves 
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp red chilli powder
3/4 tsp turmeric 
1/2 tsp zeera 
2 glass water 

- Wash & soak the daal in water for 30 minutes
- Now add all the ingredients in a pressure cooker and cook for 15 to 20 minutes on medium low flame till the dal is soft 
- Remove from the cooker into a pan and mash the daal well (You can also use a hand blender)
- Add some water to thin out the daal 

Handful tamarind 
Chopped coriander
2 green chillies

- soak the tamarind in lukewarm water and then mash by hands till smooth

This dosa needs no fermentation and is extremely nutritious.  Spiced with Byadagi chillies, fresh Turmeric and Garlic, this flavor packed recipe is a must try.   RECIPE: RED LENTIL/ MASOOR DAL DOSA  Soak 1 Cup of Red Lentils in water for an hour.  Wash well and drain out all the water.  Transfer to a blender along with byadagi chillies and salt to taste, a small piece of turmeric, 4-5 cloves of garlic and half cup water. Blend to a fine paste. It should be a flowy pancake like consistency. Add more water if needed.  Heat a tawa, top with little oil and spread a ladle full of the batter. Top with oil/ Ghee until crisp. It’s a delicious variation of dal which you must try! Super easy to make, very quick and best way to get all the nutrients❤️

Because you’ll end up eating a lot more of it then you would in usual curry form.. so get them protein and do try it out 💪

Ingredients I used: 
- 2 to 3 tbsp oil 
- 3/4 tsp mustard seeds (optional)
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds (optional)
- few curry leaves 
- 6 to 7 large garlic cloves 
- 1 large onion (or 2 small) 
- 1 small tomato 
- 1 cup soaked masoor dal 
- salt
- turmeric 
- red chilli powder 
- garam masala 
- coriander powder 
- coriander leaves 
- Kasuri methi (I didn’t add but mom recommends) 
- hot water as needed
