Machine-gun Pillbox in S'pore-a grim WWII reminder

The WWII machine-gun pillbox (pill box) sited at the entrance to Science Parl II in Pasir Panjang Rd., was once used by the British Forces as a coastal defense fortification of Singapore. The pillbox was significant to Singaporeans as 2 local, 1st Battalion of the Malay Regiments fought alongside Allied soldiers in an epic 48-hour stand against the Japanese. It was one of the last battles the British forces fought & lost, before they surrendered to the Japanese on February 15, 1942.
