34K views · 4K reactions | More gardening tips for tomatoes👇 🍅 Choose the Right Variety – Select determinate (bushy) or indeterminate (vining) based on your space and needs. 🍅 Start with Healthy Soil – Use well-draining soil rich in compost or aged manure. 🍅 Plant Deep – Bury the stem up to the first set of leaves to encourage strong root growth. 🍅 Provide Support – Use cages, stakes, or trellises to keep plants off the ground and prevent disease. 🍅 Water Consistently – Keep soil evenly moist but avoid overwatering to prevent splitting and disease. 🍅 Mulch – Add a layer of straw, grass clippings, or wood chips to retain moisture and suppress weeds. 🍅 Prune Wisely – Remove suckers (small shoots between the main stem and branches) for better airflow and larger fruit. 🍅 Feed Regularly – Use an organic tomato fertilizer or compost tea to promote healthy growth. 🍅 Watch for Pests – Check leaves for aphids, hornworms, and other pests, and address issues early. 🍅 Harvest at the Right Time – Pick tomatoes when they are fully colored but still firm for the best flavor. 🚨 Want more veggie growing tips? 37K views · 537 reactions | Onions for a year for a family of four? Why not?! Onions grown at home are juicier than store bought when fresh and can store all winter and spring if you select the right varieties. So for $4 in seed I grew our entire year’s worth! Some tips: 🧅 select the right variety for your latitude (short, medium, or long daylight varieties should be grown depending on where you live, check @johnnys_seeds for a good guide on selections) 🧅 be sure to mulch, to keep soil cool and moist and prevent weeds that like to grow in between onions (I like pine needle mulch) 🧅 start from seed and not sets which are less likely to bolt and more likely to bulb 🧅plant out 4-6 weeks before your last frost as seedlings (not too deep, just cover the roots) 🧅harvest as needed and again at the end of the season once the tops have flopped over. Dry them in a single layer for about a week or two before backing away 🧅store in a cool dark place, I keep mine in crates in our unheated garage (it’s insulated so it doesn’t freeze but unheated so stays cold)! Are you doing onions this year? Here in Colorado I like the Patterson and redwings, best storage varieties I’ve tried yet! #onions #garden #homestead #gardening | Blossom and Branch Farm

1.2K reactions · 286 shares | Follow @your_growfriend for more amazing plant care tips and tricks!🌿 Growing ginger and turmeric is easier than you think—start them indoors now to get a head start. • Cut or break rhizomes into pieces, each with a few “nodes.” • Let them dry for a day or two. • Soak in water + some hydrogen peroxide (prevents mold). • Keep them warm & damp (in a plastic bag with a damp towel or in soil with a humidity dome). • Look for sprouts within 1–3 weeks for ginger and up to 1 month for turmeric. • Discard any soft or rotten ones. Plant the ones that sprout after your last frost-free date, and the soil has warmed. (Late February or March here in the low desert). 📽growing.in.the.garden #growfriend #gardeningtips #gardeningtips #growyourown #indoorgardening #gingerplant #turmericplant #homesteadlife #kitchengarden #spicegarden #gardenlovers #plantcare | GROWFRIEND 🌿
