Josh Gardens on Instagram: "Don’t make this mistake with your cucumbers. 🥒 Cucumbers are one of my favorite summertime snacking veggie. ☀️You can pickle them, slice them, and put them in a cucumber salad 🥗 to enjoy throughout the growing season.

🔑The key is getting out in your garden daily to pick them before they over ripen 🌞. As you can see in the video, I missed a few! 😅

The other part about picking daily 🗓️ is that you don’t want the plant putting energy in cucumbers you’re not going to use. You want that growth going into forming new cukes. 🌱

Pickling cucumbers are delicious to eat on their own as they don’t have as many seeds and are less bitter 😋 

They are also easy to grow! 

They take about 65 days from seed to harvest so don’t be afraid to plant several crops throughout the summer and fall. Just check your first frost date and count 8-9 weeks back. That will be the last date you can plant until 🥒 

If trellising, you can plant them 2-3” apart.

Trellising helps cut down fungus by keeping the plant away from the ground. If the leaves start to yellow, go ahead and just take them off. The plant doesn’t need a lot of leaves toward the bottom of the stalk.
