Depending on experience, you can carefully through the stitching joining the sleeves or just cut through the knit 2. Overlock around the raw sleeve edge 3. If you want to crop the sweater vest, cut off the rib 4. Cut the jumper shorter and pin the rib at the shorter length 5. Overlock the rib back on & steam 6. Fold in the overlocked edge of the sleeve and pin 7. Blanket stitch around the sleeve to secure the hem around the arm hole This is a pretty quick diy and a great way to upcycle an old jumper (or maybe one that shrunk) to make a cropped sweater vest. I knew there’d be cool evenings where I’d want another layer over the ‘shower curtain dress’ so a shrug-type-thing would be a nice option. Having recently seen someone who had knit their own shrug, I asked myself, “Why don’t I sew a shrug using an old sweater?” 🤔🤔
I should have answered myself: “Because you have no idea how to do that.” 
But I guess I’ve never let a lack of knowledge stop me from doing anything in the past….🤦‍♀️

So I jumped in & began deconstructing the sweater. After removing the sleeves, I opened up one side seam creating a large rectangle out of the lower half of the garment. Next I cut off the sleeve caps and reattached the sleeves to each side of the sweat
