Sewing machine bags tend to be black or navy and a bit dull, so why not make your own in a fabric you like? I used quite heavy woven cotton in two patterns, and canvas as thick as I could sew through. Jessica Shaw on Instagram: "Let’s make the easiest scrunchie! 🪡🤩 (dimensions below) ✂️ Fabric: I used a scrap piece of cotton for mine. Any light to medium weight fabric would work great! (Using heavier fabric can be a little tough with the burrito method 🌯) Note: I cut my fabric 5” wide x 27” long. If you want a thinner scrunchie, make the width smaller. If you want a thiccccc scrunchie, make it wider. Adjust the length if you want it more/less gathered ☺️ 🧵 Elastic: I used .5” wide elastic. Any thin elastic would work! I cut mine 10.5” long (which worked great for me with medium thickness hair - but if you have thinner or thicker hair, make this smaller or bigger accordingly) Enjoy! #sew #sewistsofinstagram #sewistofinstagram #sewist #sewinglove #sewingtutorial #sewinghack Hair Ties Diy, Diy Hair Scrunchies, Scrunchies Diy, Scrap Fabric Crafts, Market Ideas, Sewing Tutorials Clothes, Diy Upcycle, Thicker Hair, Do It Yourself Crafts

I'm making a jacket which calls for non-functional buttons over snaps and since the garment will be worn such that the male side of the snaps may show, I really wanted to cover them. I couldn't use the standard method for applying the self fabric (gathering the fabric behind the snap with a running stitch) because my fabric (heavyweight water-resistant twill) is way too thick. As a matter of fact, the fabric was so thick that I couldn't cover both halves of the snap pair, so I opted to leave…
