Mantras for Radical Acceptance
Radical acceptance is the practice of acknowledging and accepting difficult emotions, thoughts, and circumstances as they are. This also means acknowledging and accepting these things are out of your control, as much as you wish you could control them. When you are able to radically accept something you are able to recognize and accept reality as it is—even when that includes pain or discomfort. As human beings we know that we will continue to experience hardship and pain throughout our lifetime. When those times do occur, radical acceptance allows us to move away from suffering, avoiding, or numbing a situation and towards healing. Radical acceptance is a skill that takes time. Here are a few mantras to hold on to in moments of distress to help you channel radical acceptance.
