Recipe: Blueberry-Banana Smoothie
Serves 2. Ingredients: 1 fresh or frozen banana, peeled and cut into 2-inch chunks, 1 cup frozen or fresh blueberries, 6 ounces nonfat plain yogurt (Trader Joe's has Blueberry Cultured Coconut Milk "yogurt", 6oz for $1.49), 3/4 cup of unsweetened soymilk, ricemilk or almond milk, 1 tablespoon whole flax seeds, 1/2 cup ice cubes, (optional). Method: Put flax seed and a little bit of almond milk, blend until flax seed is grounded. Then add the rest and blend.

It is summer, and that means some nice healthy juice! 2 cups seedless watermelon, diced (approximately 1/4 small-medium size watermelon); 3/4 cup strawberries, hulled and diced; 1 cup apple, cored and diced (approximately 1 medium size apple, such as Gala); 1/2 cup cucumber (approximately 1 cucumber); 1 tablespoon filtered water; 1 teaspoon lime juice. Juice it, or if blending then use a mesh strainer to remove the pulp. Fridge for 30 minutes or freeze for 10 minutes.
