Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli was said by his wife to have infinite moral courage, but was such a physical coward that he could never muster up the courage to pull the chain. She always did it for him. There was, mind you, something to be said for taking a warm hip-bath in front of a roaring fire, with an attendant to pour more warm water over you from a can, and supply hot, dry towels.
