I found this washboard at an antique shop's moving sale. I bought it for $15, not knowing anything about it, or whether it could be restored to its former glory. It is in good condition (no chips on the glass, but some wear on the wood is very evident). You can see in the pictures below that there is some white stuff (paint? wear?) that I don't know how to remove without damaging the piece. There are the words "Crown Glass" on one side, and I'd like to make them more evident. How to restore this antique washboard?

I found this washboard at an antique shop's moving sale. I bought it for $15, not knowing anything about it, or whether it could be restored to its former glory. It is in good condition (no chips on the glass, but some wear on the wood is very evident). "This classic and unique Buckeye glass washboard was manufactured by The Rich Ladder & MFG. CO. of Cincinnati, Ohio. It is in good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use...there is a chip in the wood on the top rim and some spots of dried glue. Faded graphics on the one side that says BUCKEYE in red. Strong and sturdy. Wonderful rustic shabby charm. Prop it on a shelf or hang it on the wall.
