*3/17/25 - Last week was an insane amount of work. Running DnD classes at the ZACC, drawing half the monsters for the Dust and Death rpg, writing and recording with 2 bands, and finding time to cook for my very busy wife! Hence, fewer updates. Starting a week from this Thursday I'll be teaching a five week adult course on getting started as a DM!
*3/10/25 - I took the weekend to recharge after a 60-hour work week and repeated nights of insomnia. I animated a dreary, dare I say 'liminal-adjacent,' .webp animation. It's now attached to the first of the play buttons below, feel free to check it out and let me know what you think!
Also I'm finally ready to fill out the rest of the pages, the front page is sufficiently complete for now :)
*3/4/25 - Today I made more concept art for Ariel's puppet show, although the insomnia basically turned my brain to mush. I worked on a fairly involved .gif animation, which will be revealed by the 5th play button. As soon as I get this home page nice and shunked out, the rest of it should go really quickly as I have all my assets ready. Pops called me around 6:30am and let me know my grandma had finally passed - I visited last week to help out when she went to hospice, did an overnight with my youngest sister Holly so our pops and uncle could take a brief sleep. She had a nice, quiet, family filled passing and I'm thankful it was that kind of end for her. Miss you, grandma! <3
*3/3/25 - Boy howdy I put in some work! More javascript and some new CSS components racked my brain over the last 36 hours. My ADHD hyperfocus has kicked in, I hope I can balance other things :) Anyhow, 4 out of 5 of the Play Buttons at the bottom work and do cool things! There's a guestbook too! Drop a note in the guestbook and let me know what you think would be cool for the function of the last button!
*3/2/25 - I spent most of the day trying to avoid javascript and ended up biting the bullet and using it on my buttons below. Look at that pop-up from the right-hand button! Look at my linkable button/blinky thing, fresh outta the GIMP oven! My wife says she's proud of me ;)
*3/1/25 - Had insomnia last night, probably because my brain is absorbing a lot of CSS and problem solving for aesthetics. I made those cool buttons at the bottom of the page, I'm hoping to use them as 'play buttons' to modify or transform the home page in different ways! Trick of the day: using arbitrary fraction units in a single line CSS grid! It's legit.
*2/28/25 - I'm heading over to help my friend Ariel draft some set design for his puppet play. He makes excellent puppets and happens to write and illustrate as well. I'm gonna sketch out a bunch of concept art for him, mostly set designs. Later I'll work on the website.
*2/27/25 - Second day of running DnD for kids after school at the ZACC. I made real progress on the layout today, including figuring out embedded fonts and improving the consistency of the design. I like this, I haven't had this much fun doing internet things since . . . I don't know, the Myspace days? Maybe when I had an Angelfire page?
*2/26/25 - Spent a LOT of hours figuring out how to animate the left navbar as a dropdown, as well as figuring out some *very minor* adjustments toward the notion of 'responsiveness.'
*2/25/25 - Began relearning all the basic HTML and CSS after 15 years of not touching a single line of the stuff. Maybe I can migrate my .com away from Squarespace and over to here if I get this all set up nicely!
