ROBIN'S NEST

for many a time I have been half in love with easeful Death,”
― John Keats, Ode To A Nightingale

I am a shy daydreamer, wanderer of the moors, reader by candlelight, nostalgic soul, rabbit-hearted with pale hands, rosy cheeks, and teary eyes. Lover of classic literature, fairy tales, old folk stories, abandoned ruins, secret gardens, rainy nights, and lost treasures.

“Every heart sings a song, incomplete, until another heart whispers back. Those who wish to sing always find a song. At the touch of a lover, everyone becomes a poet.”

François Bonvin - Femme en blanc (1865)

art

Wolfgang Hieronymus von Bömmel, designer, and Anthonie de Winter, engraver and publisher, Nieuw Goudt Smits Lofwreck, 1698. Amsterdam, Holland.

This engraving shows a horse composed entirely from an acanthus motif. The rolling acanthus was a popular pattern in ancient Rome, and was much copied by Renaissance artists. The use of the scrolling acanthus leaf was an essential part of the goldsmith’s skill from about the mid-17th century to the end of the 18th century. Ornament prints like these were copied by artisans working in different fields, and were responsible for spreading the influence of various decorative styles. This pattern was designed for use by goldsmiths. V&A
