The tag implication #65473 4chan_anon -> anonymous_artist is pending approval.

Reason: An artist anonymously posting their artwork on 4chan is by definition an anonymous artist(?)

If it's a specific artist, 4chan_anon is their artist name and aren't anonymous (no more so than anonymousfm and other "anonymous*" artists anyway). If it's any anonymous artist on 4chan, an alias would be better, IMO (I don't think we need tags for anonymous artists posting on different sites).

Updated

I am a 4chan artist who is featured in at least 1 post on this site, but I am not intentionally avoiding connections to my work (nobody bothered to ask!), anonymity is just the cultural expectation.
In my case, and other artists who default to (but do not intentionally pursue) anonymity, this implication is incorrect.

If there is a strong need to tag/blacklist 4chan-related elements, that is something I would prefer to work on separately. Currently, I prefer cleaning up and aliasing this to anon.

i'm asking now, how long have you had art on the site?

7 years. could be longer if there's a different post i'm not aware of.

A lot of these are in a blurry zone between anonymous and unknown. I'm a bit surprised there isn't a bunch of mistags of anon since the green 4chan anon design is fairly distinctive.

The bulk update request #11050 is pending approval.

create alias 4chan_anon (467) -> unknown_artist (56722) # has blocking transitive relationships, cannot be applied through bur

Reason: Most appropriate target imo since, as Lafcadio said, we don't know if the artist specifically wishes to be uncredited. If the artist sees their art is on here, they can either add their artist tag or anonymous_artist.

If users want to search for art from 4chan or whatever anonymous boards, we have the source:___ metatag.

(pretty sure the OP is the blocked transitive)

It's not too big of an issue, but with 4chan the sources are split up between different archives, so searching that way is inconvenient if you wanted to search for everything posted across the whole site's history.

Should be an implication

It's not as if 4chan is the only site with unnamed users posting art that may or may not be theirs, and I see no reason to have separate "unknown artist" tags for specific sites. An unknown artist is an unknown artist, regardless of where the art was posted. Sites like 4chan aren't favorable sources anyway, since it's easy to accidentally repost DNP material or low quality versions of images, so a proper artist name should attempt to be found. And with a proper artist name, 4chan_anon would be removed. Or if it's an artist that wishes to truly remain anonymous, anonymous_artist should be used instead of unknown_artist/4chan_anon, as the latter indicates someone should try to find out and the former indicates you shouldn't try to find out.

I immediately just assumed it was a separate tag for if the source was 4chan
